Novosibirsk Universities

Novosibirsk is the administrative center of Novosibirsk region and Siberian Federal District, a large industrial, transport, scientific and cultural center; it is at a distance of 3303 kilometers from Moscow. The city is located on the Ob plateau, which borders upon the valley of the river Ob, near to the reservoir formed by the dam of Novosibirsk HPS (hydroelectric power station).

Novosibirsk is the largest megapolis of Siberia and one of the largest municipal formations in Russia. Its population is 1 391,9 thousand people in borders of the city (January, 1st, 2007). Novosibirsk is the third on size in Russia after Moscow и St.-Petersburg.

Novosibirsk State University (NSU) is one of the leading Russian higher-education establishments, located in Novosibirsk, a cultural and industrial center of Siberia. University has an important profile as the generator of the academic elite in Russia. NSU was created on the principles of integration of education and science, the early involvement of the students with research activities and engagement of the leading scientists in the teaching programmes.

Accomadation

Dormitory rooms are offered by the University. The dormitories are located in front of the entrance of the Laboratory Building, only a 3 minute walk from the University. International students usually live in double-rooms in block-type dormitories. A block is composed of one or two rooms and a bathroom equipped with a shower and toilets. Each floor is equipped with furnished kitchens and a leisure room.

Cost for accommodations is 16$ per month.

Novosibirsk State Technical University is one of the largest universities in Siberia. It was established in 1950 as Novosibirsk Electric Technical Institute (NETI); in 1992 it was renamed into Novosibirsk State Technical University (NSTU).

The university offers about 120 programs of study in technical, economic, and humanitarian fields at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, Ph. D., and post-doctoral levels. Approximately 3000 faculty members and employees work at the university. Total number of enrolled students exceeds 25 thousand.

Accomadation

There are 8 halls of residence for undergraduate and graduate students, including foreign students, and the faculty. They are allocated to the University faculties and institutes. The cost of the dormitory is $15 per month.
